Contact Improvisation: Fascination with Fundamentals
Las Vegas, NV - Northwest (RSVP needed, small group)
Oct 4th, Saturday, 3-6pm
The more I learn, the more I am fascinated with fundamental principles & practices. Come explore some fundamental aspects of moving in relationship and in contact with one another! Contact Improvisation involves dancing with a felt sense of physics, somatic listening, attuned shared weight, mutual following, and going into the unknown together. We have space here for discovery, mutuality, easefulness, play, and co-creative improvisation.
"Moving at the pace of your partner's attention" is a quote I love from Nita Little. One of many. For me, what’s most important is that… this dance is us moving together. The moment emerges at our shared pace, from us being here, listening. Let movement come from fascination with what's already here, from our connection to earth.
*Doors open 2:45. Space for community until 6:30pm. Partial attendance is possible, contact me. Main studio space is a soft floor - barefoot, socks, very soft dance shoes only!
*All levels welcome, small group! No experience needed.
Sliding Scale: $20-60, pay as you wish, NOTAFLOF

Participants describe my facilitation style as… immersive, action-packed yet surprisingly spacious in feeling, oriented towards embodied practice and self-discovery, clear brief and inspiring in demonstrations, imaginative or inspired by metaphor and imagery, enlivened and grounded, high-permission and welcoming of being as we are now. If there's anything you'd like to share or ask, please contact me.
Facilitator Bio - Angela Heyun
Angela Heyun is curious about everything embodiment and improvisation - all the ways we inhabit ourselves, meet life, cultivate presence and imagination, and make choices as humans together. Her approach to Contact Improvisation focuses on the relational and collective, primarily influenced by Nita Little, as well as by Nancy Stark Smith, and Alicia Grayson. Her CI practice emphasizes presence and honesty, being where we are now, honoring a sustainable pace, and moving at the pace of moving together.
Angela is rooted in Contact Beyond Contact, a dance and healing practice which integrates modalities Authentic Movement, Contact Improvisation, Passing Through (Group), Qi Gong, Family Constellations, psychology, Taoist philosophy, and more. Contact Beyond Contact’s heart is energetic attunement, inviting and being invited, embodied leadership, boundaries, dance as a practice of life, and dancing to embody connection - with ourselves, in relationships, with nature, and as an interwoven community.
Angela has been teaching in embodiment for a decade. Beyond CBC and its integrated modalities, she is influenced by Tango, Fusion Dance, Yoga, Butoh, Contemporary Dance, Tai Chi, bodywork, grappling, movement research, and music improvisation. In her facilitation, Angela creates spaces for discovery, to be playful and reverent, to be with what is emerging, to go into the unknown together. She is committed to always being in the practice and learning of what she holds dear.
